Default What ever happened to Rough Country Suspension Lift Kit?

I was looking around the forum for other lift options besides Rancho and Tuff Country and ran into this:

https://www.hummerforums.com/m_102901/tm.htm

What ever happened to this kit.? I found it here too:

http://store.4wheelingplus.com/prodd...?prod=HummerH3

In that place they even sell it with extreme CVs! I e-mailed Rough Country but got no reply. Looks like a great kit.

Engineering issues killed this lift. They ran up against some things (obstacle$)
that couldn't be overcome by future sales $$. Said they wouldn't sellsomething
they weren't 100% sure was problem free. I can respect that.

The numbers weren't there.

I was told that they may yet re-visit this lift in the future and determine it's viability at that time.

Kudos to them for not pushing a product that isn't right.

I actually saw this truck at Jeep Safari in '06 (?maybe?) and talked to the guy who designed the kit. I was really impressed with the amount of thought they put into it. He mentioned that all the stock skidplates were retained and that the kit was designed to use the stock rims. He said it flexed like mad and you could tell that the tires (325/85/15 or 37") barely touched the rear fenderwell (like, rubbed off the dust) at full stuff. He said it was his personal H3 and that he never shifted into overdrive on the freeway because of the constant gear hunting. It is really one of the coolest H3's I've seen, the 37's look really proportional on it actually. I heard that the kit caused squeaks in the suspension that were "unsolveable" and they determined that where there were squeaks there had to be accelerated wear. I questioned them about it about a year after that Jeep Safari and they said they were redesigning it for "ease of installation" but the guy I talked to mentioned he could install the kit in a couple hours so I took that as nonsense. It's too bad because a kit that retains the stock rims is way better I think
