marinate some shark steaks in some olive oil, soy sauce, thyme, rosemary, fresh, finely chopped garlicand maybe a touch of ground red pepper for about an hour, at room temperature. chuck 'em on a medium heat grill for about 4 -5 minutes per side. mix up a sauce with some chinese hot mustard with a bit of horseradish and soy sauce, drizzle over the top once they come off the grill. let 'em rest for about 5 minutes and serve with a tossed green salad and some green beans. then enjoy the fruits of you cooking something different for a change later that night don't forget to do the dishes afterward - that will help.

Cheese Fondue, not as much work but the payoff is there. You could even feed it to her, or put the cheese on certain other things besides bread. Add some candles, wine and soft music if you don't score than you must be dining alone.

Don't cook. Wine, cheese, light fruit, crackers. You don't want her feeling full.

So, what did everyone end up doing? I got lucky and gf wanted to go to her parents house. No cooking for me or paying $100 for someone else to do it. Got her a dozen roses, sent her a card and she was happy.
