So quite simply what are the best brake pads for a 2002 Hummer H1? I know AMG has some sort of new something but how would i know if i got the new version or the old version when ordering? I might end up with the old version just sitting on the supplier's shelf for hears. , but then there is ECM green and hawk make some red ones but they only list 2003 and 2004? Aren't all the years identical? So pretty much I just want to hear brands and what people think from actually using it. And I do off road my Hummer in moab. And ill also be towing with it

Replaceing the rear pad requires a special tool to twist in to compress the abs piston in the caliper. When compressing the piston in make sure to open the bleeder valve when the caliper is out of truck. You have to remove the rear calipers so be very careful not to damage a brake line. I always coat the back of pads with that red/orange disk btake stop squeek stuff that dries like a thin silicone and make sure to use the brake grease on the slide area of pads and float brackets.

 

I just changed my brake pads with new AMG pads and happy with the results. I bought them at HPG.

Porterfield Performance pads R4-S.. better than the military/OEM [dealers have been advised to use these as "problem solvers" vs the old OEM hawk pads].
