Angry Volant CAI with PowerCore Filter Owners....

I just got my second Volant CAI for the H3 today (1st one was for the I-5 their mistake). I'm pretty sure they sent the wrong PowerCore Filter for the Alpha application. It is not nearly as big as one I saw on off-road.com and the Volant drawing that comes in the box even shows it to be a bigger filter! Can anyone who has this CAI with the PowerCore Filter on an Alpha PLEASE snap a pic for me so I can see what others have? I already called their tech guy and he is acting like it's no big deal and even said the one I think should be in the kit won't fit which is WRONG! My tape measure doesn't lie!! The one I got is only 6" diameter but the one I should have got is 6" fluted out to 8".

Here is the link that shows install by off-road.com

Pic from the article...

Here is a pic of mine....

I think you are right. Unfortunetly I am still waiting for the correct filter to show up and they still have not sent out a call tag to pick up the 1st CAI kit I received. Keep in mind I originally orderd this on Feb. 1st......
This will be the last Volant product I purchase based on their horrible customer service!

the I-5 and the v8 can use the same filter. The OEM filters are the same.

I think your missing the point. Clearly by the photos I have posted above you can see they use a 8" filter for the Alpha and only a 6" for the I-5's. Just because the stock filters are the same does not mean that I should settle for a smaller filter from an aftermarket kit. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which filter will flow more air and hold more dirt.....

Do you think that the $370 is worth the extra 1.1 mpg gain?

I hope so, but I need to get the correct filter so I can drive it first! My biggest goal with the CAI, Magnaflow and Flashpaq is more power. I told the wife it was for better fuel mileage...... I think overall the box design and the PowerCore Filter option make it as good or better than other kits I have looked into. If they didn't have that Donaldson PowerCore as an optional filter I might have gone another route alltogether. Those filters are really the best you can buy in my opinion. Also, you can buy them cheaper than $370 because I only paid $354 for mine shipped.

And by the way, the correct filter will be here on Friday hopefully.......
