VIN Check?
Hello. Can anyone help me check a VIN for something specific? When I bought my 2007 Hummer H3, I was told it was one of the limited edition tactical versions. It's all solid black, down to the "Hummer" wheels. I was hoping to see for a fact that it is listed as one and if so, which number is it? They said there were only 1,000 made.
Anyone care to help?

Right.
I was worried about that, too. That's why I didn't give out the number in the first post. I had planned on just feeling things out. I mean, VIN numbers are publicly displayed. So I'm not sure why I should feel protective of it, but I did. Haha..
I don't have any pictures of it up, no. It is solid black, with the standard Hummer wheels with the "Hummer" word logo written on the rectangular surface where the H1's had the run-flat system installed. They're black, which means they're similar tot he tactical versions. Other then that, there aren't any badges that mark it as a "Tactical Edition". I know of atleast one Hummer that had the "Tactical Edition" logo attached next to the standard chrome "H3" symbol and then further had a silver stripe going down the side. Mine doesn't have the stripe of the editional badge.
Most importantly, I'm interested in what number it is if it's a Tactical Edition, sense they're limited. I do know that it was built in Louisiana.

Any GM dealer can give you a print out of the options with the VIN. Does your H3 have solid 7 spoke black wheels (not 14 spoke / 7 split spoke)? Does it have a painted grille? Does it have a brush guard? Tire cover? These were all standard on Tactical Editions. Badges were not standard but were optional. Some dealers put them on, some didn't. They made 1000 of each of the 3 colors (Black, Red, & Grey). Also you could not get them in combination with the Adventure Package, meaning it would have 265 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. They were also only made one year, 2007.

Little info on the Tactical Editon, pretty much says what I already covered

Unfortunately, the online VIN decoder that I used is no longer avail...the only option would have a dealership get you a print out.
Here's what you should see:
WBL- Tactical Edition Package - $2,495
Front and rear alloy wheels with 16 inch rim diam and 7.5 inch rim width; Spare wheel cover;
Excludes: [1SB] Adventure Package And [WBL] Tactical Edition Package[1] And [QB9] Chromed Aluminum 16" Wheels And [QB8] Chromed Aluminum 16" Wheels And [BVT] Chrome Tubular Assist Steps (PIO) And [BVS] Black Assist Steps (PIO) And [BVE] Black Tubular Assist Steps (PIO)[1]; Includes: [TL4] Body-Color Grille And [BVE] Black Tubular Assist Steps (PIO) And [V25] Black Wrap Around Brush Guard (PIO)
Just look for the WBL code

If you have all that, congrats on your rare find...let me know if you are interested in the badges I can get you the prices...also, there isn't a TE stripe.

Yeah, I don't want the tire cover. I like the look of the exposed tire, personally. Another thing that I noticed was that the side marker lights are smoked out, the lense is grey and the lights don't work. It could be the previous owner did this to them on purpose and just took the bulbs out.
The interior is black cloth on the bottom with a beige on top above dash level. Then also, the trim is a darker brushed chrome instead of the shiney bits around the shifter and the radio and gauges. I think my wheels are seventeen inches solid black.

. Your wheels should be 16", if not, they are not "actual" TE wheels.

Those are some images of my truck.
It has black cloth seats with grey middle. It's like a black and grey mixture woven together. I'll take some more pictures of the little details. I know the brushed chrome is a little darker thent he normal just because my door handles are the normal chrome and the other acccents are a little darker. I doubt the previous owner would go into that much work to modify it, though. His modifications were a little cheap and those parts aren't.
More photos to follow. I'm in Washington State, so it's raining right now. I'll see what I can get.
This is the video I mentioned. The first part is more interesting for me, since I don't care about his audio system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfQ94-5zwFE it shows the badges and the pinstripe I was talking about. It also shows the brushed chrome I mentioned trimmed around the radio.
