V8 on the H3 imminent
First, a disclaimer (as a newbe)
Several different sources on the internet are indicating a V8 aluminum with 300 plus HP and the same for torque (5.3L motor) is
very close to be shipped in the next month or so...can any of you gurus comment on this or have the ability to confirm with GM.
Really like the H3, but coming from a Liberty Diesel with 300 lbs. of torque, so need at least the V8 for towing (if it was a perfect world).
I was really surprised at both the auto and the 5 speed trannies as well as the ride on the H3. We are on the cusp of either really raising
the Jeep for some off roading or going with an obvious competent H3.
Just my thoughts, any commentary or hard facts would be appreciated.

Actually that's not true (at least it wasn't a month ago). GM just opened a new plant (I think here in the midwest somewhere) that is currently producing the new H3 engines. They are going to be a modified version of the 4.3L V6 used in the Envoy and some of GM's other vehicles. I have to find the official statement. It's on the web somewhere if you do some major digging, but somebody at GM said this about a month or two ago, plus, it was on either CNN or ABCNews web site, since it was a plant opening and the creation of jobs was the main story.
These aren't Hard Facts unfortunately, but it was the closest thing to "official" that was out there at the time.
And good morning to you too, and welcome to our forum!
