I'm looking at a lightly used (~75k mi) Hummer that has had its transmission replaced. Is this normal? Does this signify tough wear?

Should I run the other direction?

 

Not normal. MIne has 200K and I think I changed fluid at 100K - it's the right strawberry syrup color/smell in any case.

It does not signify tough wear. Poor alignment/driveability, damaged components, missing / broken pieces etc would indicate tough wear.

Does it start, idle, run, drive, steer, shift, stop good/great? Go for it.

 

One less thing to break right after you buy it. Auto Transmissions are man made machines assembled with man made parts. All man made parts and machines can fail. Some will last years, others days, weeks or months. I would want to know what "replaced" means? As in New, rebuilt, remanufactured, is there still any warranty, and if so from.by who?
