Upconversion DVD players
Thanks.
Just in case you didn't see this, I THINK there are a couple of players out there that have a VGA connector, so you might be able to find out with the PC VGA out, but I highly doubt it. That would let you do it.

www.avsforums.com is definitely the place to go to read all about HDDVD / BluRay, upscaling, etc. Format wars are such a pain in the **** that I would hold off from buying either HD format until the combo players come down, and a good upscaling DVD player like from Oppo would probably help out (depending on the scaling features in your TV).
So after all of your input and some research, I have discovered that Samsung makes a Upconversion DVD player that has a component hack via the remote control. Though those that have achieved this hack say they havent noticed much of a difference. I think my solution is to buy an upconversion dvd player and get a HDMI to DVI converter plug to achieve the results that I am looking for. J&R music world has a Sony that I'm eyeballing. Any recomendations on other brands, reviews, experiences?
Thanks again all. As a result of this thread I will continue toconsult the brain trust that is Hummerforums.com

Why thank you! We are kinda good sometimes
I have the Samsung, but didn't know it had a hack since I'm using HDMI. What's the model number of the hack? Can you post a link to the directions for it?

The HDMI to DVI adapters can be bought at any Circuit City. They have them hanging on a rack usually, so don't worry about ordering one. I bought one and have used it. They work great.
Just remember, the whole point of HDMI is to combine digial audio and video on one cable, so with the DVI adapter, you will loose the audio output to your TV. You'll have to either use regular Red/White Stereo RCA cables for the audio to your TV, and/or use a digital audio cable (Optical or COAX) to your stereo reciever if you have surround sound.
I'm glad we can help you with more then just Hummers. I'm into EVERYTHIHG...
Now if I could just figure out how to get to the fuel injectors on my engine, I'd be all set [:@]
Just watched Shrek 2 with the kids last night, that movie is still good (yes it is a kid movie, I know),great sound track too. We hadsome laughs. Got Ratatouille for Saturday.
Here is the link to the hack. I saw on other forums that the code may be slightly different depending on the model dvd player u have. A quick search should result your code if this unit is not yours. Seems like its common knowledge on video forums.

My 70" Sony ONLY has 2 HDMI inputs in the back(1 in the front???), is there any type of attachment that I can get to INCREASE my HDMI inputs?? You know, like a USB thingys that has 3 USB thingys on it??
I have 1 being used by my HD Sat and 1 being used with my HD Cable Box and i really don't ant to have it hooked up in the FRONT!!!

If you have the money, get yourself a good one:

You don't want any quality degredation.
