Well I just joined this board over the weekend, I'm basically reading on opinions and options since I am considering a new Hummer as a tow vehicle for my Mustang. I know no one here knows me, but I felt I had post on this thread.

I have been dealing with Jesse now for some time, he sponsors the Mustang Forum I am on and sold me the kit for my car, as well as a multitude of other parts. Between the knowledge, customer service and honesty I would say that he is one of the best I have ever dealt with in this industry.

Also as far as the quality, fit and performance of Turbonetica kits, let me tell you they are def. top notch. I have installed Turbonetics kits on 05+ Mustangs, 350Zs and a G35 coupe and the one thing I can say is that none disapoint.

Okay, you finally got my attention. I want to talk to my Corvette shop this weekend (a Lingenfelter authorized performance shop) who does all my performance work, who would be doing this for me as well. Who knows, if they like the kit, you might have a tie-in with one of DFW's premier performance shops. They have a bad-*** kit for the H2, but nothing for the H3.

One question though, I have a PCM for Less tune, forexhaust, intake, shift points, 4" lift and 35" tires. Will I lose that?? If so, can the tune I get with this kit be modified for such things??

Yes unfortunately it would replace your current tune, you would then have to send the PCM back to them to retune it again for the shift points, tires & lift. I sent you a PM...

Sitting here reading this thread, I realize the benefits of a turbo system and would love to have one but I can't help wonder if this add on is smart for the I-5. I'm sure the turbo is built right and performs well according to the posts here.

I guess I'm more concerned about how well can the factory inline 5 handle the added HP??? I know there are several reports on the 06 models blowing the head without a turbo. (Even some 07s seem to have sufered head problems).

At 220 HP the 06 model seems to barely handle the task without head damage. I just worry that pumping in another 130HP to that motor will cause more problems than it cures. Also, will the turbo void the GM warranty?

I've got the 07 with 242HP and supposedly a better head or head gaskets plus I have the PCMforless tune, K&N CAI and Magnaflow dual exhaust. I've not run a dyno on it but according to everything I've read about the aftermarket goodies I should be in the neighborhood of 280-290HP with my add ons. I worry about that extra power (and it's noticable over stock) giving my engine too much of a workout for the head, hopefully I won't have any engine problems like so many others have unfortunately had to suffer through.

I've got 11K miles on mine, so far so good. I never redline mine unless I happen to have crusie control on when climbing a very steep grade on the highway, I've had it kick down into 2nd gear and the frikkin tach goes up past 5K and scares the crap out of me. I've learned from my last trip to Moab that it's better not to run with cruise control on routes with steep grades. I'm sure the turbo would help in these situations.

I suppose most who have leased or even purchased an 06 or an 07 would lose their hind ends trading in for an Alpha with the big V8 to get that much power. The turbo is a very good price and kudos for the group discount here on HF. Maybe the turbo is the way to go for those who can't get into an Alpha now for whatever reason and need the extra HP.

Personally, I don't need the HP, I want it though.... I guess I'll keep mine as is, I don't tow anything at the moment but I'm looking at getting a small little 4'x8' flatbed trailer just for lumber and other items that I can't stuff into the back of the H3 and for pulling that little trailer my 07 has plenty of power.

 

HD..what you're failing to understand..is that the Head problems you mentioned are not due to over powering the engine..this I5 engine is a real work horse and can handle the extra turbo boost..the problems you eluded to, are as a result of poor, or deficiant valve seats that have and are failing in the head...subsequently, the heads have been redesigned with proper valve seats, problem has been solved in 99% of the cases, first time....in any case..the failed heads is not a result of any add on aftermarket improvements to performance, only manufacturing defects of the heads...So don't let any misconceptions on your part, deter you from getting a turbo..I know I would if I could afford it.

 

jn1300r what is your update on how yours is going? How well does it perform? What bugs did you have to work out and how much of a hassle are they?
