Default trying to sniff out bullchit.....

I was talking to a guy last night that had a hummer/cadillac mechanic uniform/jacket on. I didn't catch the dealership name cause it was kinda dark in the parking lot. I was driving my bro's Jeep and he was in a rubi as well so he started talking jeeps. I looked at him and asked why he was driving a jeep when he worked at a hummer dealership....HIS OWN WORDS....Man those h3's are garbage, he said he has done OVER 50 head replacements already and that now the locking rear diffs are starting to break as the trucks get more mileage on them, also said they have replaced about 20 front diffs. what do you guys think...BULLCHIT...OR NOT?!?! He was right on with the heads and the front diffs, but this was the first I ever heard about the rear diffs blowing too....not very promising if it is true[:'(]

I detect a prejudice exaggeration from a disgruntled **** poor mechanic.

true, but judging by all the stuff I've been reading about h3 problems the past three days on top of my own problems, makes me wonder if he wasn't bieng honest.

If that dealer alone has had 50 replacements. You would be hearing about it.

Isn't the rear axle the same one GM has been using for the last decade under the S-10's, just resized to fit the track of the H3? If it is, why would there be problems all of a sudden? I agree with Dennis.

thats true, didn't think of that.

linus, I don't think the s-10's had a locking diff though? He said the locking diffs are failing

RE: Locking diff problems..

I believe the problem is actually the disengagement of the diffs..the problem lies in the electrical connector to the diff making poor contact..I took mine apart and sprayed in contact cleaner with lubricant...As suggested by a couple of dealers I called about this rare problem.

maybe thats what he meant then...Like I said I haven't heard of any rear diff problems, thats why I thought he was full of chit originally.
