Transmission Shift
Hey guys, yes its me again and my super problematic H3
hehe. I have another question.... it seems that my H3 has real problems shifting from 3rd to 4th gear when cold in the morning.... seems on the colder nights is when it happens. When I get to the highway and pick up speed it will not shift into 4th gear at around 60mph as it usually does..... this happens when temperature gague is still low or arleady at desired place. I have tried speeding up to almost 80mph and it still will not shift, RPMs lifting.... then suddenly after a 15 to 30 seconds (didnt really time it and it prolly differs) it shifts gears and everythign is ok..... this will not happen again till another morning. is it possible when transmission is cold it wont shift to 4th gear at normal speed? my friend at work who studied car mechanics says it is probably normal but I have a feeling he does not have an idea what he is talkin about.
Does anything like this happen to any of you guys ?

I had a Mercedes once for 12 years...The tranny on that one held on to the lower gears longer also when it was cold said so in the OM that it would...Where did you say you are located?? For the record.
Even though the engine may show normal temps, the tranny is still colder, a lot colder than the engine..So I'm not saying it's normal..I never heard of a GM transmission doing this before..But the best thing to do is call and ask your dealer or another dealer in another state even, if this is normal..get a second opinion... From the sounds of it, your dealer is causing you more problems than you already had..so I wouldn't trust much of what they say or do..IMHO (Dilo)[sm=smiley14.gif]

yah you can say that again lol, although they are trying to be helpfull..... seems their service dept is crap.... the GM is involved now and he promises he will make sure all is done properly..... I am located in New Jersey. I never asked them of this before but I will tomorrow as soon as I get into work.... see what they say and then maybe call another dealer.
That does sound weird i can see when its cold out it takes longer to shift but not that long it could be a sensor
i know this will sound stiupid check the fluid and go to a differant dealer yours dont sound like no help i would have no patients with them i would of already drove it threw the show room window tell that them if they don't fix it your going to drive threw the show room. Then when people are around to buy one and start saying in a loud voice when are you going to fix all off my promblems it works trust me on that one.SEE THEM WALK RIGHT OUT . It's a standard right what about when you put in the clutch everthing smooth in all gears even when it does not want to go in to gear

Thanks as usual dilo
you guys are much help ! the GM already tried to give me BS that many things influence the transmission, and that the service manager will explain to me when i get there. I sent him an email back that if it doesnt happen in other cars it is not normal, and they will fix it or I will go to another dealer. I will probably get very ennoyed if they try to sell me some bs and try not to fix it !!!!!!

IF YOU CAN LEAVE IT OVER NIGHT WHEN IT'S COLD OUT AND LET THEM BE THE FIRST TO START IT AND DRIVE IT BEFORE IT WARMS UP

This dealer has been around for years and years actually, there is another one right near my house too that supposedly is the biggest hummer dealer in the northeast ? or the usa? dont remember but they claim one of these things hehe. there is also on in manhattan and brooklyn, so I have about 4 or 5 dealerships withing hour of my travel..... the one by my house is about 10 minutes, but I really did not like the salesmen that work there, they were rude and tried to sell me a lot of BS. So I picked one near my work where the salesmena I dealt with was very nice and informative
