trans service milage?
so at what mileage are you guys servicing your automatic transmissions? and are you takeing them to the dealer to do it or doing it yourself? I preffer to do work on my vehicle myself but sometimes it doesnt pay and its just better to take to the dealer. If your doing it yourself what would you recomend putting back in it?
Based on a number of recommendations, I went to a transmission shop and had them change the fluid at about 60K miles. I just didn't want to deal with the mess of dropping the pan in my garage. They charged me about half what the dealership wanted.
I believe the manual says 75K. I had it done when in for other service. Then they forgot to seat the dipstick all the way and I had tranny fluid all over the underside of the vehicle. If you can do it yourself, do it.
I will go by the manual (so there are not issues with my 5/100k drivetrain warranty). That being said, it all depends on how you use your HUMMER. I am pretty hard on it (wheeling, trailer, etc) so I will have mine drained, filter and refilled @ 45K on my 08 Alpha.

I agree with TAINTER. I own and operate and advanced Independent Service Center and "how you use it" is definitely a qualifier. Like TAINTER, I tow with it and on occasion 4x4, but i am NOT hard on my H3X. I did my first service at 45k and just did my second servicing when I turned 90k. I have most of my Hummer clients doing the same. I also switched mine to the Amsoil product. (personal choice)
Just a reminder for the 06 and early 07 guys, the transfer case service needs to be done carefully. HUMMER shipped out a few transfer cases with the fill to overflow port at the wrong height for the installation angle and you will need an additional 250ml (8.45 oz) added through the speed sensor port or you will be running it low. Check on here or the GM service bulletins for the whole deal. I went in for an oil change and they started pulling the plugs in the diffs and whatnot to check the oil for me (nice of them) but not once they told me they checked the transfer case and where the oil was at! I had them add a tad more fluid for me.
You need to know your VIN if you have a 2007.
