Default Tranny Service

I was off work last week and decided to take my 2003 H2 for a tranny service. I took it to a transmission place referred to me by a friend. They did a complete fluid change through the lines and changed the filter. What a difference. The truck used to slow down quite quickly when I would take my foot off the gas doing about 40 or so. I didn,t think this felt right. After the service the truck sems to hold the speed alot better. The tranny shifts great. I bought the H2 used and didn,t know any service history so I figured I would do the service. It feels like a new tranny. I am very pleased with it. The truck has about 70k on it. I really didn,t know that a tranny service could make that a difference like this. I would recommend this service to everyone with over 50k.

Yea, The tranny temperature is staying much lower than before the service. I just can,t believe the overall difference this service made. The owner of the shop was telling me that these are really good transmissions. The two problems these do have are 1- they can lose reverse.2-if they start to bang into 2nd the valve body has to be rebuilt. He says overall it is a great tranny.

You think that made a big difference, wait until you swap the OEM syn fluid in the diffs out for some real syn fluid like Redline or Royal Purple! The entire vehicle drives smoother afterwards...

3.5 qts for the rear & 2.5 for the front = 6 total

I highly suggest buying an extra quart, just in case you have a spill etc.

The OEM syn fluid is crap compared to RP or RL. Also, you will dump lots of sludge out when you drain the OEM fuild, as there is still the original assembly lube mixed in with it and all the metal shavings from the break-in period.

Redline Rules! The only full synthetic made from 100% Class A stock! Mobil1, AMSoil & Royal Purple are all made from Class B stock. Not much difference except that Redline can hold up to extreme temp heat better
