Tranny acting funny

2006 H3 rolling down the road 40mph thru about 60 mph with rpm at about 2000, the tranny feels like it momentarily slips. Tach will bounce 200-300 rpm below 2000 rpm. Is it my trans or an engine miss?

torque converter lockup happens around 40. sounds like something there is kicking in/out?
as you approach lockup, below that point,as you gently hit the gas you see rpm change quickly with no tranny shift.
when locked up above 40 the rpm changes slowly like in a stick shift in one gear. if you hit it too much it downshifts..

if you are on level road and holding steady on the gas, it should not change.

Mine was doing that right after I bought it with 42,000 on it. I took it back and of course they were not able to duplicate the problem but the guy said he knew what I was talking about. What I did was change the fluid and filter in tranny and installed an aftermarket cooler. It now has 80,000 on it and hasn't done it since.

Full lock up is at 45mph. If you have a persistent hang up at lock up (a lock up that kicks in and out like it can't make up its mind, or unlocks after it did lock up without a change in throttle load and then takes too long to lock up again), you likely will need to have it looked at.
