Default Tow Hitch question..

I need to tow something for the first time this weekend so I need to pick up the hitch/ball to go into the reciever. What is the proper "drop" I need to buy for the H3?

I'm going to be pulling a friends 1967 Land Rover to a car show for him.

Any help is appreciated!! Thanks! Mike

It depends on a couple of things. Go here to see how to measure. how to measure for a drop or rise Most likely a 2 or 3 in drop.

I have towed two trailers so far. Both were almost completely level with with the 2" drop I bought. I also used a 2" hitch ball, I think [&:] I bought it and used it (this weekend actually again) and it was all fine and dandy, but now I'm unsure what the drop was. I'll take a picture of it today and post it. You guys can probably eyeball it and figure it out. The hitch and ball are both Reese.

I use a 3" drop but honestly it all depends on the trailer you use. Best bet is to buy an adjustable reciever and just crank it to the height you need, that way it will work with any trailer you do decide to tow.

Here is the one I use. It is a REESE. You can buy these at Wal-Mart for a good price. Believe it or not, they have a huge selection of towing equipment:

Ha! Funny you say that. My wife saw the chrome one (since she is the one that had me chrome it all out anyway) and said "Ooh let's get the chrome one." It was like between $30 and $40 more, and since it was going to get beat up anyway, I convinced her it wasn't worth it! We do, however, have the chrome skull with the red LED eyes as the hitch cover

I have a 6 inch drop on mine to tow a 6x10 enclosed trailer. Rides perfect.

Is the H3 even rated to tow a car? I thought the max weight was like 4,000lbs
