Default Torsion stock lift

I lifted my 06 H3 today using nothing but a 1 1/16" socket, a galvanized pipe on the wratchet, and a little car floor jack with a piece of firewood between it and the truck for some extra clearence. Did 5 turns pass. and 6 driver (the drivers was low since i bought it) and now have a 23 5/8 distance from hub to fender in front. Looks and drives great. So glad I didnt get suckered into a $80-$300 lift kit and go to the shop to have it done. Cost me $15 for the pipe and socket (probably wouldnt have needed the pipe, but it was just in case).

I plan to get the bilsteins for the front to accomodate the lift next because while the normal ride is great, when i hit big potholes at speed, it seems as though the stock shocks are hitting their limit and im getting some extra dash shake. Any comments on the benefits of extended bilsteins to prevent this?

Thanks for the info on the free lift.

You must get an alignment now since you did that. It may seem like it is driving straight, but there is no way to get it perfect.

Congrats on not wasting money for a "leveling kit".
Do a little research into TrailDuty 1/2" extended bumpstops to replace the OEM bumps.
They prevent nosedive now that you are leveled.
And X3 on getting a front end alignment.

Thanks for the comments. No noticeable nosedive over stock height, but it was in need of an alignment previous to this and the tires are pretty new so thats next. However, I want to install the bilsteins because they have greater travel correct? Wouldnt I need to get another alignment after that? I dont want to align it twice, so do you think that the alignment on stock shocks might be all thats needed to eliminate any excessive rattle i now get when hitting big potholes? Or wait and go for the bilsteins? Id be driving the truck unaligned for a few weeks if I go for the new shocks.

Hummer Parts and Accessories : Bilstein Hummer H3 Front Shock Absorbers (Pair)
These are the shocks im planning to buy for the front, ok to just do the front? Would these be the optimal shock for this height?

The shocks shouldnt change your alinment by themselves.

RED those appear to be standard travel length shocks

Extended Bilsteins are - FA-BE5-C153

Extended travel shocks have more travel in the EXTENDED position, when your A-arm is in it's downward position. They make no difference in the retracted position like when you hit a deep pothole.
I don't think your problem is with the travel of the shocks. It's probably an alignment issue or possibly WORN shocks in combo with the misalignment.

Hey Red. Check online for a coupon for Firestone.. They usually have a coupon for a discount on their lifetime alignment. I got mine for around 150.00. Then you can have it aligned whenever you need to. I wheel mine so its a must.. Check threads on this issue. You can add a half inch nut to the top of the shock and remount it. That will put it back in its stock position...
