Not sure where you are located but watch out for any tread pattern that has a lack of siping in the center treads if you see snow, ice or lots of rain.

The Guard Dog tread pattern is very similar to the Old Style Goodyear MTR. I have run the MTRs in the winter and they sucked! After having the tires siped @ the local big chain tire store they were better but not great. The "Kedge Grip" option might change that a little. Also with ANY retread the tire is only as good as the carcass it is wrapped in. Make sure you specify that you want a 3 ply side wall carcass!

As far as size goes it all depends on your goals for the tire are. Daily Driver, OffRoad Only, mixed, how many miles per day if a DD, what type of terrain will you OffRoad in?? All of these should be takin into account when searching for new tires. Yes, tires are a big investment but they are the ONLY thing between your vehicle and the ground.

Indeed, I understand that tires are expensive, however I would highly recommend avoiding retreads if you plan on any wheeling. If she is just a street pounder w/ wheelin flavor than they might be ok. I would think you might be able to save similar loot by searching eBay and Craigslist, heck even forums like this one? Lightly used tires still have plenty of tread left and usually equal great savings...

Default tires

thanks guys...

ya the tires i was looking at had the kedge in it.. i do tons of wheelin in fact i just got my truck back after a crazy night out... a few drinks in and the bad idea of trying new trails resulted in my truck in a seven foot ditch.. good old come a long and 4wd got me out.. but the truck had a mangle rear door front door and the rockers were bent so bad niether driver side door opened.. all fixed now and upgraded

so it will definatly see more wheeling i do about 25mph per day to and from work and get about 15-18 mpg according to my scan guage.

is there anyone selling some "gently used" tires im in the ny longisland area..

There is a H3 on Pirate 4x4 running those tires in a 315. Personally I wouldn't run recaps but maybe you can drop him a line and see how he likes them.
