Default Tire Pressure Sensors & 35's...

My Hummer Dealer told me that because the ProComp 35's were not the standard tires, the tire sensor might show an error with the tire pressure & the "idiot light" would come on & stay on everytime I start it up & drive away.He said it was because Hummer hasn't come out with a computer update setting for the sensor.

So I hit the reset stem and the written warning went off. Upon get on the interstate the first time, the tire pressure light went off, never to come on again except when all of the other dashlights illuminate upon start up, and then it goes out with the others.

So what's the deal? does the sensor work properly now? How does it know that I have 35's on it?

Thanks!

Should work with the 35's no problem... Chances are when the wheels were pulled off the position of the TSP sensors changed to a new wheel location... My guess is the dealer threw that line out to you to get you to go away.. The directions to reprogram the TPS is in the owners manual.. It's something weird like hold the reset stem on the display down and turn the key on 3 times while dancing naked with a frozen under a full moon..

Your dealer is full of crap. I had my 35's installed last week at a 4x4 shop and they reset the sensors for the proper setting according to the new tires. It took them an extra 5min to do all four.

All they did was reset them -- now I will say with 35s and more air, that gives you more of a chance they'll give you a warning w/ temperature swings (more air, bigger pressure swings) but should go off once the tires warm up a little.

Just to be a post ***** and say my 35s don't give me a problem either lol... Though they did damage one of my sensors from the dealer and they had to replace the two piece sensor/core.

A friend of mine mentioned having nitrogen put in his tires at a Ford dealership.
The rationale was that since nitrogen had larger molecules the tire pressure had less fluctuation. I was considering trying this out.

Does anyone know about this?
