Default Ticking noise...

I did a search, but couldn't really find a thread that has the same issue I'm experiencing.

My truck started to make a ticking noise coming from the front passenger tire area. It will increase/decrease depending on my speed. It usually only makes the noise when I'm not on the gas. At slow speeds (5-10mph) it seems to be worse and will occasionally "pop" instead of tick. It does it in forward, reverse and neutral. It does not happen when I'm not moving, so I don't think it's related to the engine or transmission.

I've looked underneath, but I don't see anything broken or dangling. I'm a PC tech and not a mechanic, so I haven't wiggled anything or taken anything off.

I don't know if this will help any of you mechanically inclined folks to throw out some suggestions of possible causes, but I figured I would ask anyway.

IS the sound you're describing a much faster tick than you would hear from an exhaust manifold? I am assuming you have ruled out any problems wiht the exhaust manifold already, cracked manifold, broken bolt. You say at slow speeds, does the sound stay consistent as the vehicle goes through the gears?

If the noise is proportional to your speed but not how much gas you are giving it, my guess would be a wheel bearing.

Yep, me too.

Roll down the window, get it up to speed, and coast out of the throttle, if it is still there, wheel bearing is a very good guess.

Just got the truck back from the shop today and it ended up being the drive shaft on the passenger side.
