Default Thinking about the "2"

Hello everyone,

I have been searching for an H3 alpha recently and have had no luck. I love my Hummer and have no problems with it, so I am being very picky trying to find the perfect one. But with no luck finding an H3 Alpha, I have come across a few H2 that I really like.

I wanted to see what I would be getting into making the switch to an H2? Any commonn problems that I should be aware of one while I am shopping around? Any specifics I should know before getting an H2?

I enjoy everyones' thoughts.

Thank you,
Jon

I wouldn't worry about the common problems...we all know how to fix those. Its the oddball **** problems we see from time to time thats a pain in the ***.

Just look for the best condition in your price range.

Even if you find an H2 w/ non-functional air ride you really like, you can easily swap that over to coils. So I wouldn't even factor that.

Thanks for the info. I found a 03 Black Lux Package with 40K miles not to far from here. The are asking 22K for it.

Think that will be worth the trip?

Also what kind of MPGs am I looking at in the H2?

Not a bad price...should be pretty damn nice w/ mileage that low. I'd go check it out. Offer $19,500.

Stock gears/rims/tires 11.5-13/mile Depends how much your foot weighs.

Stock gears/24" rims/38" tires 8.25-8.75/mile. Kinda odd that it doen't matter if your going 50 or 95 MPH... I get the same mileage no matter what. I loose overdrive after 76 MPH or so. 3RD gear will run you right up to 90 easily if your not paying attention.

You interested in an 04 with 85,300 miles. Limited Edition Victory Red. It's already been converted to coils, so you don't have to worry about air suspension issues. No accidents. I just bought it in February for 21,300 + tax. I gotta have 19K.

Keep looking, I've been finding alot of really (I mean riduculously) low mileage 03's for pretty good prices. Mechanically from everything I've seen these things are solid and reliable. As for other stuff breaking, 03 to 06 has had the oddball stuff like mirrors and air suspension problems, my 07 has been a damn fine truck with no goofy issues to 52K miles so far.
I like the idea of picking up a cheaper, low mileage older deuce and being able to put whatever you may need to in it while appreciating it.
I'd really scrap the idea for a 3, the dueces are just so much nicer and more fun to drive for something that seems as big as a bus but wheels with the best of them!

Yeah, I am going to keep searching. If I find one, I am going to make the jump up to a H2.

chesh97: Sorry man, I am going to have to trade in the H3. I still owe some on it.

I appreciate all the input guys!

I agree. There are some nice H2 out there with lower miles and they to hold up very well. Everyone I know with a dueced loves it and wouldn't think of getting rid of it. While the H3 is capable there is something extra about a 2. We have 8 of us at work with the H2 and all agree.
