Default Think I ruined truck, Help?

Today I tried to be a cheap *** and save money and change transfer case fluid, now truck wont shift out of first gear. Got info from this site, http://www.gmhummer.com/forums/showt...?t=1628&page=3,

any help is much appreciated, one thing i know i could have done wrong is instead of draing plug mark in picture, i use plug right below it, taught that was the plug, I feel like crap right now, I should of just took it to a professional, I did recheck sensor and make sure it was on properly, please till me its an easy fix, thank you

Changing TC fluid in and of itself won't do squat regarding shifting. You can drive with a shattered or dry T case until it toasts. So my guess is you should be checking that you correctly clipped the speed sensor connecter back on, if it is not getting the proper signal, the PCM will not read your "speed", hence no shift.

Good luck.

CEL from the T Case? You can put a code reader on it if you want.

Well, taking a friends advice, I added another half a quart of oil, and everything works fine now. Was just about to call AAA to take to dealership. DrTom, and Doc thanks again for the advice.

probably was that you had a bad connection on the speed sensor. It will not shift out of first if it is unhooked or malfunctioning.

It could of been, but I took sensor out, connected it back about 6 times with no luck, added another half a qt of oil, and now it shifts fine, my service guy at dealer said same thing, not enough oil should have nothing to do with it not shifting in gear take it in 120 to look at it. Just glad everything worked out, now I can sleep better at night.
