Tank Til Empty Help
I think Skeeter means when the light comes on he has about 20 miles to go. When ours comes on we have about 20 miles too. I would think it would be different though as Skeeter said if you have done any mods, or have larger tires also. But I would guess somewhere between 15 and 20 miles.
The specs say that the 2006 got 15 mpg average combined city/highway driving. With some mods you can improve your mileage by a few mpg's, or adding larger tires you will lower your mpg's.

seems like the book says 3 gallons left.
when I got 20 mpg I drove 410 miles when the light came on.
it took about 20 gal and its a 23 gal tank, so you have 3 gal left, but I wouldn't try to go very far on it. probably good for 30 to 40 on the edge!
in theory,3 times your mpg!

Mine has slowly started illuminating Low Fuel with less and less in the tank. It was almost 3 gallons left several years ago but now comes on at 2.3 gallons left. No dents in the fuel tank skid to explain it. I wonder if that low level light can be reprogrammed back to 3 gallons?
k.i.s.s.
when the light comes on,fill up asap and note how many miles you drove.
if it was 1 mile forget it.
subtract the fillup gallons from 23. theres your answer.
if you went 15 miles to your fillup, thats about 1 gallon. if it took 21 gal, that means you had 3 gal left and used 1 to get to the fillup!
its not hard to figure. the question is,how much will the pump suck up when you have 3 gal left. I doubt that it will get the last few drops!
"they" say that fuel pumps are cooled by fuel. no fuel and a pump running means it could get hot.

A 23 gallon H3 tank does NOT hold 23 gallons. Few american cars hold the full amount of fuel for their listed tank capacity because ......... the filler tube extends down into the tank intentionally leaving an air space ("vapor head space") at the top of the tank to allow for heat expansion of fuel, and there is an unusable volume of fuel in the very bottom of the tank below the fuel pump pick up. Fuel capacity designation is made according to the manufacturer's tank size, not according to its actual usable capacity caused by the fuel filler free space, vapor emissions venting, and unusable volumes below fuel pick ups. The larger the width and length (not depth) of a fuel tank, the more expansion air space. Even if you pack it in and fill the filler tube, 22 gallons is more than what you can actually burn on the best day.
Anyways, I know that Tainter's Mr. Blue Alpha went a good 40+ miles on the PA turnpike when his low fuel light came on because the next exit was closed for construction and we had to ride on down to the second one, made it more fun when CBphoto's light came on just a few minutes later. My I5 still had 1/4 tank and could have towed them on the shoulder to the next fuel stop.

The problem is every vehicle will vary when the low fuel light will come one and real world fuel tank capacity for usable fuel variance is 3% +/- between identical vehicles.
