Default synthetic oil

Hey y'all~

I've got another oil question. We've taken the H2 to the dealer where it was purchased and all maintenance work was done, we got all the records from them as well. The shop guy said that they use regular oil and it is not necessary to put synthetic in it. After I rec'd the synthetic advice on the H3 that's what I've been using. I was just wondering if the same would apply to the H2 or if we should just stick with the regular? After 30k miles does it even matter?

Thank you - muwha~

I'ts not necessary, but if you want better performance, better protection, better hot and cold quality, then use it.

I got rid of the stock oil at 500 miles and have been with mobil 1 ever since.

I think Synthetic as Chris said, is a plus no matter what orwhenever you use it..Trouble with standard oil is that you MUST change every 3000 miles or 90 days and with Synthetic it can go as far as 10 to 12000 miles if you have too...After all, it is a cheap investment to protect your engine's life.

Another question ... What kind of oil? I mean what #'s? 10/20 or whatever. [&:]

And is it really hard to do it yourself? Not me, Marc of course. Keep in mind, my Daddy had to show him how to change the oil in the lawnmower. I was thinking if it wasn't very complicated he could do it Friday, it's due for an oil change right now. My Dad changes the filter everytime he changes the oil. He only uses the synthetic and he changes religiously at 3000 miles.

Anyone, wanta give Marc a "how-to" lesson?

The fliter makes a little bit of a mess when it drips on the skid bars..... same with the oil stream....

I use Mobil 1 5W30 and I change mine when the oil life system says 20% (approx 6000 miles based on my driving styles)

I did this with my 2000 Coupe (LS1) and I am doing it with my H2.

I read about that. How do you stop that from happening? Is it hard to change it yourself?

The only PITA is where the filter is.

I use some foil to direct the oil around the skid plate. Other than that.....It's easy

Get yourself a PF46 filter, an oil wrench, 6qt of 5w30 or 10w30, a drain pan, and a wrench for the oil plug (I forget the size).

Drain the pan first. Thenfit the foil around the filter to keep the oil from collecting on the skid plate. Take the filter off and replace with the new one. (fill the new one with oil and put a little oil on the seal)

Fill'er up with 6 qts of oil and remember to reset your oil life.
