i have an 03 h2 and my wife likes to drive it. The problem is when she goes to open the swing out and close it the tire carrier drops about an inch and she is not strong enough to close it. Is there a washer or something that can be done to raise the height of the carrier about an inch or so that will allow for closing the carrier without lifting the carrier up to latch it? thanks for your help

 

Maybe you can post a pict of your tire carrier? It really depends on what you have. I have the SMA tire carrier on my '03 H2 and it' is adjusted by like two bolts on the tow hooks. Just back them off a bit latch it grease the joint then tighten it. mine wasn't hitting the latch quite right and after doing that the pin requires very little effort now to push through.

 

I agree with him... since 03 didn't come with one from the factory there is a good chance you have an aftermarket one... you might need adjustment.... or you have lost a shim...

it's pretty good news... should be a minor fix.

I'm pretty sure there is no way that the factory ones can do that...

 

ok, fixed it. The mounting plate kept shifting no matter how tight i cranked the bolts. I drillled throught the plate, added an additional bolt and it is cured. thanks again
