Supplier vs. Employee discount
Can someone explain the difference in discounts between the two? We are shopping or a H3x right now and have a supplier #. We are saving $3133 off sticker, $800 below dealer invoice cost. Our son works for a Gm dealership for about 2 months now. He is not sure how the discount works. The salesman said the only way to get a lower discount than supplier is to actually have a family member that works in the assembly plant, at the dealership is the same as supplier discount. This doesn't sound right to me. Does anyone understand the diff?? And is there a waiting period (minimum time as employee) b4 u canget a discount pass? And is the limit 2 per year?
They were also hard selling the lease.
Thanks!!

Lets see if i can make it a little clear between the two types of discounts;
Supplier discount is given to any emplyee of a company that has anything to do with the sale of a gm vehicle. This includes the guy who makes the seats all the way to the salesman who sells it to you. When you use supplier you get any offer to the general public on top of the supplier discount. Supplier dicount is usually around 8 % off the price of the vehicle.
Employee discount (gms) is for anyone who works directly for gm. Most of the time this is anyone who works at the assembly plants or main offices. With employee discount you also get any offer that is available to the general public. Employee discount is usually around 10% off the vehicle and 12% off dealer installed options.
Employees who work directly for gm get 6 employee discounts per yer and 12(one per month) supplier coupons per year. Employees can pass supplier coupons to anyone that they want however only immediate family members can use the employee discount. My dad just retired from General Motors after 38 years so needless to say everyone around me is in a gm product. I hope this helps more then it confuses anyone.
