Since my sunroof leaked and i had to deal with that nice wet dog smell for a week after words i did a little sunroof maintenance.


CLean the hole

1. open the sunroof and clean around where the rubber seal touches the inside of the sunroof hole. mine had dirt and crud build up around it and im sure thats where my leak came from

2. Lubricate the sunroof seal itself with armor all or some kind of spray on cleaner portectant

3. I cleaned my sunroof drain holes with a can of computer duster/compressed air and the little straw that comes with it. worked like a charm and you could here the blockage pop out when it cleared


We have had some pretty nasty rain storms in the past week but i havent seen a single drop in the cab. Also when my sunroof closes now it makes a very satisfying squeek sound so i know its sealed.

 

My '06..(27K) has never leaked..but I did your service this AM..Just in case. Where is the end of the drain ? I assume that the 2 holes in the front corners are the only drains ??..Thanks..JV..

 

my 06 with 28K miles did leak and ended up replacing all carpets on passanger side, covered under warranty thankfully. I can not locate any drain holes, any pictures?

 

Vinny should chime in soon. The only holes I found were in the front corners ...in the black plastic that makes up part of the track...

 

front corners of what? the whole roof, or the unit that holds the sunroof

 

Right at the edge of the track that the roof slides on...front corner..on each side..

 

the holes are in the front corners of the front of the sunroof opening and are about the size of fish tank air tubing. i poured a cup of water in mine to test it. you will see where its draining and you will also see where it drains to after that.

 

I had the same problem this morning. I brought it to the dealer and they said they cleaned out the drains. Now when I drive I hear a gurgling noise coming from the sunroof??? Don't know what to do?
