Unhappy Sudden surge when touching the gas

Having an issue where the truck will surge to around 1300 rpm from idle. Always happens in gear after coasting to a near stop and then just giving it a little gas, the rpm jumps and the truck lunges forward. Scary because I'm just trying to move forward a little, like in traffic, and come close to hitting the guy in front of me. My wife's does it a little but not nearly as violent.

Does this sound like a worn out TPS? No codes, no CEL. Should I pull the throttle body off and clean it? I pulled my wife's last summer and it was really carboned up and gas gunked so I'm sure it needs to be done. Just wondering if something could be buggered besides the TPS. Thanks.

Sounds like Either the TPS or the Accelerator position sensor, I had the same problem and replaced both sensors with parts from oreilly and it didn't fix it.....long story short i replaced both with GM ACDelco parts and it fixed the problem.
Only use GM OEM parts!

Thanks. Yeah, I try to use only OEM for this type of stuff. I'll do the TPS first and if no joy then the accelerator sensor.

Don't forget when you change those sensors you may have to perform a relearn procedure, I'm not sure what years but some require the dealer to flash the pcm.
Do some searching for your year and make sure. My H2 is a 04 and i did it myself.

I have an 08 as well, and just sort of thought that was normal. It took me by surprise the 1st time it happened b/c I thought I was going to drive through the garage wall. But now I'm use to it.
