Question ...Stupid Question...

What is the actual difference between driving in 4(up arrow) and 4(up arrow)(lock)?? I have a 06 luxury model with only the three buttons. Wondering the difference between this and the other models with the off-road package.

In very simple basic terms:
H3's are full time All Wheel Drive (AWD)

The 4(up arrow) is for normal driving. Power is split approximately 60% to the rear axle and 40% to the front axle.

The 4(up arrow - lock) is for driving on loose surfaces, dirt, snow, etc. Power is applied evenly to both the front and rear axles. DO NOT drive on dry paved roads in this mode!

H3 axles have limited slip differentials.
Offroad and Adventure packages added buttons that could lock the front and/or rear differential for better control in demanding offroad situations.
Most H3's do not have this feature.

Technically you are correct and technically I am wrong saying the H3 has Limited Slip Diffs.
I was trying to not get too technical in answering the original question.

The H3 has open diffs in addition to the Traction Control System and Stabiltrac. The result is a combo of mechanical & electronic systems which mimic the actions of a Limited Slip Differential.

The point is that the diffs of the H3 will never react as ''open differentials'' since the TCS is always on.
