Default STUCK IN PARADISE...

Bottom Line
Overall, we were impressed with the new 3.7L engine. It eagerly yanked the H3 through fast-moving traffic and tire- sucking sand....
TIRE-SUCKING SAND!! - Man I gotta get more power! This weekend I took my H3 in some sand that was a bit too soft [:@] I got stuck BIG TIME!! I was sinking fast and just when I was about to use my OnStar to call a tow truck a few of the local boys in their jacked-up Toyota's came over to pull my *** out. It took us about 4 tries to finally get me out, however on the 4th pull I went right into the palm tree you see behind me [sm=outcold.gif] My bumper was literally bent in half, when I got home I used my wife's Xterra to pull my bumper out a bit so I could open my cargo door, it doesn't look too bad now but I definitely need to to get it fixed.

It was definitely not a good day for my Hummer

That sand looks deep. Did the Toyotos go into the deep sand too, or did they pull you out from a safer place? Nice setting. Where were you?

Ouch! Well, those are the wrong tires for sand! Those deep treads will make the H3 sink in sand like quicksand!

I would be more concerned about that sand on the dash over the rear bumper.

Dude that totally sucks. I think I know what beachfront you were by! When I was in Oahu in the spring, we spent most of the time driving around the island. I love driving and exploring, and we almost got our Sebring stuck in some sand. You need some good tires. HummerMike bought some Micky Thompsons (I think that is what they are called) and said they made a huge difference in the off-roading capabilities of his truck. You may want to ask him what size/model tire he bought. Then you probably wouldn't get stuck anymore ;-)

where was your tire pressure, can't see the bottoms in the pics. low, low pressure on sand is the trick, making the bottom wider.

I know!! The sand isn't the bad part though, it was ramming into that tree that hurt

Hey shortbus..the sand is usually pretty hard but for some reason on that day the sand was like quicksand! Yep, low tire pressure that always works.

Yeah I forgot about the bumper. What happened exactly? Did the 4-runners just keep pulling until they pulled you right into the post, or did you give it too much gas and reversed into it?

Yeah Micky Thompsons are very good for sand, but I don't usually go on the beach mostly mud This area is right before North Shore - called Kaawa prounounced ka a ava The guys pulling me out was telling me that a week before, his Ford got stuck in the same exact place, it took them the same amount of effort to pull him out also [:@]
