I think that I need to send this one back and try another, if this many people are having good luck then something is wrong with mine or I did something wrong. Now that I think about it I think that I'll try screwing the stud in first and then the antenna, maybe I didn't have it turned in enough.

How darkare the black flames on yours Hummbob? Mine are kind of grey and see through, in fact they hardly stand out at all. All of the photos that I have seen have shown them to be fairly dark black.

Yeah, mine are PRETTY BLACK, even after a year and a half!! I kinda expected them to discolour alot, but they still look pretty dark!! Like the picture I posted!

Mine is 7 in. works fine.
Do you happen to remember where you got yours? I just purchased a 15" from antenna-x, and while the unit is OK, I have added an aftermarket chrome antenna mount cover, and the base of the 15" will not fit in the hole. From your photo, it looks like the one you have will fit.

Thanks

Got mine here. I don't know bout no flammin antennae ideas?? This works for me in the woods it will not whack the apillar or windshield and gets good reception, but no flames. What's with that?? I don't go thru car washes but I would still remove it.
