I hope you guys are right and this thing won't be a nightmare because I just met the seller at the bank to buy it. The deal fell through because the transfercase would not shift into 4 high lock or 4 low lock. So the seller is having a new encoder put in it now.

Finally, the wireless headphones didn't work so well. Is there a way to plug a wired set in?

Nice!
Is this an 08 or 09? What's the mileage?

2008 77k. I think it needs shocks b/c when I go over bumps it doesn't feel solid. So I'm thinking some adjustable ranchos. I have them on the excursion and the adjustability for towing is great.

Also the drivetrain feel like is has slack in it. Like coming to a stop then stepping on the gas even lightly you can feel drivetrain sort of take up slack and engage. Hard to explain. But would this have to be the chain in the transfercase being stretched or something?

I know it's a different vehicle, but I have an H3 with the adjustable ranchos. I can't stand the ride quality. It's just too stiff. I won't even get into the shocks I have, they aren't realistic for most people.

If you want some really nice shocks, look at FOX. They offer adjustable shocks, but not cheap.
Look here at everything offered for the H2: http://www.ridefox.com/applications....f=applications
A lot of people here will push Bilsteins (I expect someone to comment on it). I've had bad luck with shocks on 2 different vehicles & their steering stabilizer that fits the H2 is overcharged & pushed my steering to the right.
Also, check your bump stops for rot & possibly the steering stabilizer. The stabilizer on the 08/09 models are notoriously hard to remove. They changed the taper for some stupid reason.

Before the shocks, I need to add the tranny cooler. I tried towing our 4000lbs TT just on a flat freeway this afternoon and the tranny got over 190. It was 102 out but that's my reality.

I just ordered the Tru-Cool 47391, hope it gets here this week so I can try again next weekend.

Nice rig! Great choice in colour. My wireless headphones wouldnt work either. Tried for weeks to figure it out. Finally broke down and went and bought corded headphones and a cord to plug into. I dont know if you guys have "the source" stores in the states or not but that was the only place i could find the cord with the configuration i needed. I will get you a pic of the cord.

The slack in your drivetrain is probably that encoder issue. I'd wait until that was fixed and see if it changes.
Are you getting any clunk noises when you accelerate or qhen the trans shifts?

If so, may just be driveshaft u joints.

The encoder fixed the issue of not shifting the transfer case. The driveline slack is still there. I've read about chevy driveline slack and it sounds to be common with their 4wd vehicles. Sort of crappy engineering if you ask me. I've driven many 4wd's w/ transfer cases that were full time 4wd and never have I experienced this before.

I did get under there and rotate the driveshafts to see if there were obvious u-joint issues and there isn't. But that's not a really good test.

I'm going to focus on the tranny cooler to get the temps down while towing. If it doesn't work I might be selling it.

From what I've read on here & other forums, there's not been a single person who complained about temps after adding the tranny cooler. It should fix your problem, if done right.
