Strange Noise with Roof Lights
HI Everyone,
My name is Daniel Canchola I have a H3 Adventure I live in Mexico City, two weeks ago a Bought a roof lights after I installed When I drive up to 70 mph strange noises heard in the roof, I need to add extra seal in the front in order to avoid the noise.
I think the problem is when the air crash with the windshield the air up the roof ligts and this produce the noise.
Whis the extra seal in the front I cant hear the noise anymore.
I need to know if someone has the same problem and how do you resolve, and I need to know if oyu have any pictures with the front of roof ligts maybe in order to see if my instalaltions is correct.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have the same lights installed by the dealer. First time they installed them the wind caused them to whistle at anything over 20 km. Took it back for that and other issues and the dealer reinstalled them. Before I took it back from the initial installation you could see a gap between the light trim and the roof. This was especially noticable on the driver side. I was told at the time that they first installed them that GM had tried to correct the noise problem by developing a revised mounting kit, and the dealer was surprised by the wind noise problem. You may want to check to see if you have the lastest version of the mounting kit as the first batch were a real problem.
It ended up that the first installation wasn't completed properly. The rivnuts were loose and the double sided tape was not sufficient to close the gap. After my return visit they tighten all the rivnuts, reinstalled the double tape and added the same tar as is used in sealing gaps in the body of vehicles to the edge of the trim. Since they did that there is no gap at either the front or rear of the light fixture. Additionally the light mounting is super tight against the roof. This work was completed over a month ago and as it rains here quite a bit and the truck sits outside I'm happy to report no more wind noise or leaks. I'll try and take some pics tomorrow to show how tight against the roof the lights are now.

Does anyone know if Hummer put out a repair kit for the lights, I have a small whistle sound while driving high speeds, we only torqued the rivuts to 35 lbs, yesterday I ran it through a pressure wash, brussless car wash, this thing uses high pressure water to clean the car, and I mean high pressure, I'm surprised it doesn't wash the paint off, anyway it didn't leak any (knock on wood) even with this kind of pressure, we also got the best wash basically meaning they go around the car a couple of extra times, again we got no leaks, the kit however didn't come with any kind of double sided tape. The whistle isn't that bad, in fact I've delpt with louder tires. One thing I would like to do is add ambe lights to the A pillars, the ligths I got are the ones with two white fog lights,. One more quick question how hot do those lights get, my nav system is hosed in the box as the light, I owuld hate to melt it while using the lights, I would think it wouldn't get hot enough to melt the casing of the light bar, so the nav unit should be ok, but ya never know
