Default stock radio swap?

I have a 09 hummer H3 alpha with monsoon system, with the 6 cd disk changer. can i do a straight swap with the other radio that has nav built in? is that swap just plug and play so i can still use the amp set up that it has still?

Moved to the H3 section so maybe somebody who can answer sees it and helps out.

I researched this many years ago, I think the Nav can swap out the 6 disc, but not sure if you need any adapters. I do not remember for sure.

The navigation portion of the head unit will not be functional but the radio and single disc will work fine.

OEM Navigation requires more than just putting in a nav head unit. Easier, faster and cheaper to buy an aftermarket head unit with navigation and an GM-OS adapter kit. You will get Pandora, blue tooth, updated navigation maps, more sound control, etc.

The only other part he will need for nav (if disc is still in unit) is the gps antenna that mounts in the dash. They are cheap on eBay.

Nav unit, Disc, antenna, and programming required. Only reason I would go with an oem unit is if resale value is a concern otherwise an aftermarket unit will usually offer much better features.

Just switched out the wifes H3 radio w/ monsoon. You have to use the "adapter" to make it work properly. Reach out to Crutchfield and they will give you the "how to". The head units can use the stock boxes or your phone for the navigation. I was going to get a navigation head unit but the wife didnt like the idea of looking down to see it.

Nope, no "adaptor" needed. This thread is about OEM Monsoon 6 Disc to OEM Monsoon Nav Unit.
