Default Standard radio in 2008 H3, want Nav!

I seen a few threads but nothing conclusive on whats easier and or better, A factory nav unit, or an aftermarket one? I would like to retain XM Sirius, so are there and sure fire radios that use the existing Sat Antenna? I have done many systems in my life so I should be able to solder on a install kit harness. Thanks!

Just be aware that if you install a GM nav radio (or any GM OEM radio) that it must be sync'd to your vehicle by a dealer $$$$$.

Aftermarket radios/nav do NOT have to be sync'd.

OK! aftermarket it is! It looks I will lose XM. I see there is a box that will allow alerts, and on star to work.

There is one exception to Bunger's comment
My 07 OEM nav unit had a failing screen and the dealer searched around for one and found a refurbished nav unit.
He sold me this unit for a fraction of the cost of a new one (back then 2010)
He then coded it to my vehicle for free.
I still have the same refurbished unit and it still works great.

On a sperate note, if you have a failing OEM nav unit I know a place in CA that repairs these units
and this place does work for dealers too. They worked on another head unit for me.
There are very good aftermarket head units available

My vote is for an aftermarket unit that lets you mirror your smart phone to the screen. More choices on which nav app to use, automatic free updates, real time traffic updates depending on app you use... If you have the data to burn, Pandora, possibly SeriusXM, and other music services are available.

If you still want to stay OEM.. I'm selling the factory Nav unit together w/ optional sensored Monsoon amp and subwoofer upgrade. Make me an offer and it'll be yours for way less than anywhere else.
