Default speakers help please

Hi Everyone.
My 2006 H3 adventure package factory speakers again like everyone else's.. A friend installed new speakers and it sounds horrible.. so I have a few questions

1. I noticed the fronts factory speakers are 4 ohms but the rear ones are 8ohms..? Is that suppose to be like that?

2. The speakers now (temporarily) Kenwood KFC-1665S 300-Watt 6.5-Inch 2-Way Sport Series Flush Mount Coaxial Speaker 4 ohms..
Can anyone suggest decent speakers for this car sounding similar to factory ones? Also, should I replace with 4 and 8 ohm ones?

Thanks,
Ky

Need more info. What is the radio you are using, stock stereo CD, Nav, Monsoon?

Did you replace all 4? Are you saying the rear replacements are different ohm than the front?

Darn near anything, including Dixie cups with a string attached, sound better than the stock crap. IMHO, you may have under-spent. Go to Crutchfields and take some time doing a bit of research. You do not need $100 speakers, I have four Pioneers (4 ohm) at about $52 per pair, they sound good, a big improvement, but are not what a audio nut would rave about.

Generally, with car audio, 4-ohm speakers are the usual, because car audio systems run on a 12 volts DC instead of a 120 volts AC. A 4-ohm impedance allows car audio speakers to pull more power from a low-voltage car audio amp. 4-ohm speakers tend to have greater dynamic range and play louder more easily than 8-ohm speakers. Good reason to use the 4s with the factory radio, it's only going to push so much.

Any chance your friend reversed polarity when he installed one?

Lol@dixie cup. I'm using the factory stock system. UQ3
When we removed all of the speakers the fronts only have 4 ohms but the rear ones are marked 8. (I think the pic download.)
I don't believe the adapter plus would allow the polarity to be reversed..

You put in speakers that cost a whole 20 dollar bill and are surprised they don't sound good?

Lol they were $40 pair, I didn't buy them. It was a gift. I know they aren't good, is there something you can recommend?

Actually you can mess up the polarity even with adaptor plugs. You still have to connect the proper ends to the speakers.

Anyway, a decent 6.5" or 6.75" 2 way coaxial speaker in the $50-$75 per pair range will be sufficient. If you want good sound, better speakers than above will not give you any better sound without a different head unit, amplifier, etc. There are limits to the factory base audio systems.

I wonder if the 'A' pillar tweeters are also 4 ohm and wired in series with the front door speakers creating 8 ohms and producing a match with the rear door speakers?

Ok Broken Halo, you are correct.

Still told to stay at 4 ohms tho.
