http://www.hummerguy.net/ HUMMER Cancels Next Generation H3, Shelves H4 Filed under: Hummer News — admin @ 8:55 pm A couple days ago the Wall Street Journal was stirring the pot with vague statements about “killing off at least one future HUMMER SUV product.” It got our attention since the Wall Street Journal isn’t exactly known for publishing rumors. Details weren’t published immediately, presumably so they could check their statements for accuracy. After the facts were checked, this is what was published: [blockquote] “Recently, GM killed plans for the next-generation H3, a relatively-fuel efficient SUV that had been popular among U.S. buyers, and shelved plans for a sporty H4 that would have competed with the Jeep Wrangler.” Rest of the story is over @ http://www.hummerguy.net/[/blockquote] |
RE: and so I wept...........
MAYBE the Wall Street Journal has their facts messed up?
This may also be similar to the H2 announcement which we wouldn't reall see any affects for several years anyway if GM kept the brand. Time will tell us more... |
RE: and so I wept...........
This is getting out of control. Screw it, at least I will own a collectors item.
|
RE: and so I wept...........
Dude, I hope you are right and they are wrong.........
|
RE: and so I wept...........
I hope so too
|
RE: and so I wept...........
That makes no sense. If they wanted to recoup anything from the investment they would build the brand as best they could. The H3T and HX would be brought to market to make it a more attractive asset to sell. If they were going to keep it and build it same thing. To shut it down is to throw away a lot of time and money. As a GM shareholder I would throw an absolute fit at the asinine notion that the brand is worth nothing. I have 4 Hummers and a Corvette. GM does that and I am through with them, their stockand their products.
I don't think the board would let them do something that stupid. |
RE: and so I wept...........
This can NOT be correct.
Where did The Wall Street Journal get its information from, the Priusleaf-lickers save the whales forum site? Article quotes "Recently,GM killed plans for the next-generation H3".. Say what? When hasGM ever publicly stated that?? Sounds like BS info to me! |
RE: and so I wept...........
that doesnt make sense, the H3t is about to be sold and from what I understandit will have the next-generation v6/trans. etc. thats like dodge saying theyre not gonna make the challenger! there was a little good news in there when they said GM might get rid of pontiac and buick though!! Also Im confused as to which hummer guy or hummerguy from this forum runs that website, or is it none of them??????
|
RE: and so I wept...........
Not just wishful thinking but I don't believe this to be accurate.

|
RE: and so I wept...........
I went to Hummerguy.net and the article is the first one on the page. If you read all the way down it says the news is unconfirmed and that what is confirmed is that development continues on the new models and the H3T will be here soon.
|
RE: and so I wept...........
good to hear
|
RE: and so I wept...........
We aren't out of the woods yet but I don't think it is as worrisome as some are making it out to be.

Let's hope this is just Crappy Speculation!!
I REALLY want an HX!!! |
RE: and so I wept...........
Two different articles from two different days, with the second one containing the "expanded" information.
Personaly....I'm hoping for a retraction from the WSJ with an apology for reporting bogus news. (Wishful thinking) However, I can't see them reporting on something like that without having confirmed their sources. Like Brian said....give it some time and see if the other main stream media picks up on it. Right now, it is just the WSJ reporting. |
RE: and so I wept...........
There was another forum that had another article that seemed to paint the story in a different light. Made it sound like WSJ might have been fed some overly dire information by a supplier. Said supplier said that they were told to cut back on 09 parts. GM guy said development on all future models was continuing at this point, the H3T was coming out and no decision had been made. Hope that is true and that I wasn't reading optimism into the story that wasn't there.
|
RE: and so I wept...........
Besides if WSJ printed a retraction it would be so deep we wouldn't be able to find it.
|
RE: and so I wept...........
09's are still coming out with full force, including the H3T...

RE: and so I wept...........
Anytime something like this happens all kinds of stuff comes out. Until GM says it I wouldn't get excited or disappointed.
|
RE: and so I wept...........
Are they crazy? Hummers are selling like hotcakes even overseas, why would they not continue to devlop the brand. Also, if your looking for a buyer to purchase the brand you should make it as attractive as can be in order to get a fair price for it.
If they come out with the H4, I'm buying it as long as it is an off road vehicle. |
RE: and so I wept...........
this whole thing about getting rid of Hummer is what i call 'The Bobby Knight Effect'. no one's talking about us, so let's make our own news...good or bad. jmho ;)
|
RE: and so I wept...........
hmm, interesting point. it sure has brought A LOT of attention to the brand and maybe inspired some people who couldnt decide whether or not to buy a hummer, buy one. to help keep the brand alive
|
RE: and so I wept...........
its kinda like a sign that says "coca-cola" it doesnt tell you anything about the product, its not a good or bad message. just reminding you of the brand
|
RE: and so I wept...........
I just read the WSJ article and the Hummer news was mentioned in the last paragraph. It said GM recently killed plans for the next generation H3. "Recently", like we all heard of this news before. I dont ever remembering hearing anything about future H3 plans of any sort. I dont think the WSJ has all their facts and may even have a few mixed up.
|
RE: and so I wept...........
There were rumors of a V6 to replace the I5. Maybe that's the one they are talking about?
|
RE: and so I wept...........
All that I KNOW is this is still on the website as of today:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - General Motors Corp (GM.N) is postponing redesigning its SUVs and full-sized trucks as it shifts its product portfolio toward more fuel-efficient vehicles, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition on Thursday.
GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson told the newspaper the car maker was "looking at the whole product portfolio," and deciding how to supply the U.S. market with more fuel-efficient cars. GM will extend the life cycle of its current line-up of pickup trucks and SUVs, including the Cadillac Escalade SUV and the Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
