Default Smoke/Steam coming from air vents

Wife drove 08 H3 from Ohio to NC it rained heavily and when she got home we noticed smoke/steam coming from the air vents (she wasnt running the AC) didnt really smell like anything was burning I thought it may be water or moisture/steam anyone have this happen during wet conditions or have

This has not happened to me, but I would be interested to find out what it is.

My first thought was a heater coil.Usually when they go, you get fogged windows and such as you explained.
Look for water inside the cab on the carpets up high where your feet go.

Yep it is the heater coil took it to the dealer on 7/6/09 and its still there had to order the part dealer was gracious enought to give me a 09 Caddy CTS with only 199 mile on it (nice car) but I want my H3 back guess ill have to wait it out

Thanks for the follow up.
It is actually called the heater core, and that has happened to me on my old Jeep, when it was brand new in 1979.

The Caddy sounds nice, but nothing beats that Hummer, does it?

I hope the time goes by fast for you.

got my H3 back today alls well except the smell of raiator fluid how can I get rid of the smell

It will slowly fade away, there's just some residue in your heater box.

If you want to hasten the process, set your heat and fan to max and spray some of your favorite air freshener like Lysol into the vents in front of the windshield. The fan will pull the spray through the system so it's coated nicely.
