Default Smell in H2

Dear All,
I don't know what to do... Please HELP & SOS
I have a bad smell in my H2... i remove the seats, the carpet, the insulation... and when I close the car for 24h, I have again a bad smell.
it is not coming from the ducts since i don't smell anything and no smell even if i turn on the AC or heater.
Please check the foto... i'm lost!!! Any ideas where to look?
The roof is very clean and no trace of water...

What kind of smell? Mildew, damp? Dead rodent? If it's a rodent it could be inside the dash. Good luck!

I would say more into dead rodent because it smells like acidity and it is a very disgusting smell... deep one! I checked the dashboard from below ans remove the radio... nothing there.

Check the airbox. They could have made a nest in there... those paper filters can make a nice source of bedding. Also does the headliner smell ? These are notorious for leaking water in, you could have mould growing under the headliner, which you wouldn't be able to see.

On the flip side, whilst your truck is stripped, would be the perfect time to get some sound deadening down

Would also check the exhaust from manifold to tip to make sure there's nothing fouling the pipe or the manifold. If a heat shield had come loose, or anything plastic is too near it could be burning - that could give off a rancid smell depending on what was heating up. My bet is the airbox...

You mean the interior roof... it is clean but this weekend, i am going to remove it completely and put it out of the car to check if the smell is coming from there.

Nice insulation, what did you put? it is for noise or heat or both?

no, it doesn't smell but do you think it produces small amounts of smell that is increasing with time when car is closed?

Stick a dog or cat in there, if there is a dead animal in there, they will find it. Maybe?

G-Line COMFORTMAT

3mm thick, it was for an audio installation. It was for noise. It blocks out most of the traffic noises, and makes the cabin much more pleasant to be in. The fact that you have it all exposed, is begging for it I can listen to the stereo at a third of the volume i used to, and can have a pleasant conversation. At 70-80mph plus you still get wind noise at the front, but just going through towns, it makes it a much more quiet and relaxed affair. I thought about doing the underside of the bonnet and the wheel arches, but haven't bothered yet. Also if you get the door panels off, take a look at speaker rings... they look like they might help with sound quality, and not expensive.

I know you are focusing on the smell, but upgrading is always more fun when rectifying... if you do sound proof the roof, be sure to be mindful where the sunroof gets pulled back, if you have one. Make sure it wont catch.

Not sure where you're located, but most of us are in winter right now, which means cold and damp. After you've been driving it for a while, no doubt the interior is warm ? Maybe ideal growing conditions.. I'm clutching at straws, but if you've been over the car/airbox/engine bay, not sure what else it could be.

You could check that you haven't been pranked and noone has tied a fish on the underneath of the manifold or exhaust platform. That could cause this horrid smell and be tough to find. I've also heard of dealers injecting seats with eggs via a syringe when disgruntled with customers. If you've had your seats out and it still smells, in the cabin, probably not that, but something to check.
