Skidplate ( AKA PIA)
Yes I just find out how much pain in the a$$ was the skid plate .
For years my H2 was making funny noises as squirrels when hit a bump , also got a very annoying vibration
I remove the PIA for some issues with a hose leak then decided to keep it off for a few days to check the leak ... BINGO all the noises , vibrations and more
disappeared . it rides much different
NOw Im dealing with install it back adding some rubber as an insulation for noise and vibration ... Get a different aftermaket ( havent shop yet)
Or just keep it off ( rather not . I like how it looks )
Does any one had any idea what could works
BTW I read in many forums how big pain are those skid plates but never realized that was a real problem ... Those M.F looks so innocents ..I really hate it . It keep me mad in every ride for years . I couldn't never adjust and forget the noise or vibration

Was it just rusting around the fixture holes ? what was causing the vibration ?
Mine is bothering me too, as it's beginning to look a bit pitted with some rust specs, and lets the car down. One of the members on here painted his in bedliner than looked like a dark grey (i want to keep it looking as close to factory colour as possible rather than black), but i can't for the life of me find a bedliner that would work. Anyone sprayed their's with a colour similar to the factory finish it came with ? (not such a fan of spraying it black).

Can't said what was causing the problems. Only found 1 screw on the front left which was lose other than that it looks perfect.
It is aluminum so i don't think rust is a major problem
I to paint mine with plastic dip
I like it black and most possible if installed back will get it power coat black And gray
I will spend some time trying to get a fix either with rubber separators or a silicone coat in between the plate and the chassis

Powder coated the PIA . Painted gray the H2 logo and fixed the loose screw
Well seems the screw was the issue with the noise and 90% of the vibration
It rides better without the skid plate but not too bad after fixed and tight all screws
Resume .. if you have squirrel when going over bumpers noises and or vibrations check and re-tight all the SP screws
For better results just completely remove it

Looks clean now .. I really like it black much better than silver ... I had it plastic dip before so not a big change after painted in black
If I was looking only for a ride comfort or easy access to check hoses and stuff under the truck I will leave it off ..
Ride is noticeable better without it .. However the Skid plate is part of the H2 and very distinctive so I decided to sacrificed a little comfort for the nice look
BTW the powder coat cost me only $20 .. Best $20 ever spent

Looking good. Is it simple to get off ? I mean is it just 8-9 bolts and that's it ? Am thinking of getting mine powdercoated here. Still think i prefer the grey/silver look though. I like yours black as it matches your lower apron.
I had it removed a few times . Yes is a little heavy but you can handle it without any expecial tools .
Also a good way to check many things . Once removed you will have access to belts hoses damper etc
I was planning to paint it gunmetal and black like the fuel wheels but gunmetal was too expensive from the powder coating shop and didnt match exactly the wheels paint

Plastic dip may be peeled off if the results arent the expected
Btw lowes is the cheaper place to get the Plastic dip @5 per can .
