I've said in the past that I haven't experienced slowness like everybody else has, but lately it's been herendous during the day. I have 3 T3 lines at work and every other site is lightning fast, downloads are quick, etc. but this site is lagging big time. It takes sometimes 20 to 30 seconds to refresh after a post, loading a post for the first time is sometimes impossible during the peak hours. This site is becoming very large, but if people can't access it efficiently, they will not visit it, and there go your sponsors. This is quickly becoming the largest Hummer garthering on the net, and even though I know the owners of the server and the site have limited resources and money for server upgrades and so forth, but being in this field, I can see this site becoming almost unusable in the next few months if something isn't done. Sponsors are not going to pay to put an add on a site that doesn't work. I just thought I would add my $.02.

 

we recently moved every site to new servers, and have been ironing out some "bugs". I forwarded this message to the server people. One of the reasons for this server move was that they offer much better tech support.

It seems to be running better today, but after it loads all of the advertisers, it still hangs 5 to 10 seconds before the message appears.

 

I have noticed that very same thing myself .... the advertisement banner's load fairly quick, the rest of the page remains white ... then it magically appears after 2-3 seconds ... instantly.

 

I just blink really slow......................seems to fix the problem

 

 

i told the server guys what was happening to me, which is exactly what Jyne is describing. Evidently, they have all sorts of diagnostic nonsense hooked to the server, and they claim that it is all running smoothly, but they are going to try some things to help out.

 

That's always what server people say that don't know what they are doing.......... ZYNE can back me on this one from our experience If you are good, you don't need diagnostic nonsense.

well, now that we are on the new servers, they have a staff, rather than one guy, who is working on making the sites work better...
