Sinkhole ate my H3
I was driving on a construction site tonight that goes on for miles. It issurrounded by cow pastures, in the middle of nowhere. They are leveling the ground running sewers under the dirt making a road, I guess. Yesterday it was realsandy powder dirt. I would sink in, almost like driving on the beach. I didn't really like the dirt kicking up like on a dry baseball field. Today it rained. I figured it dampened down the dirt some and would be cool to check out. Most of the path was pretty solid but therewere some parts like quicksand. Huge trucks left tread like a few feet deep> There were some parts of the path about 50 yards long that were total mush. It was foggy and I couldn't see anything in front of me. I got scared for a second that I was going to sink.I had no problem at all.
A few miles in on some solid ground, I parked and was going to listen to radio show. It was awesome looking outside. One side of the sky was clear as can be and the other side was total fog.To my left here were tons of stars and to my right I could see a huge layer of fog rolling in. I swear the stars were reflecting off the fog and it looked all different colors. Red , green, blue, orange. I heard this sound in the background like someone honking a horn constantly or a car alarm. I turned off the radio and got out. It sounded like water running in a sewer with high pitched echo. I walked in front of my H3 to see if it was comming from the engine. It wasn't the engine. It sounded far away but real close in spots, just echoing.
I got back in my Hummer to listen to the radio show. The second I shut the door my H3 jerked forward. I jammed on the break hard then it felt like my right front tire blew up. There was this loudsnapping noise almost like electricity popping. I grabbed for my shifter because I like to sit parked in neutral lol. Right when I touched my shifter I heard this sound like someone shoveling snow and the shovel is hitting cement. My whole front end sunk forward. I didn't expect thatand my hand slipped off the wheeI.I honkedthe horn with my lips. I think my upper front tooth went through my bottom lip on the horn area. My heart felt like it stopped and I was completely numb. I didnt know if I was burried. I couldn't see anything and it was all smokey. I sat there for a second expecting something else
I was able to open my door thank God. I got out of my H3 and could clearly see I was in a big hole. It took me several tries to climb out without the ground breaking from under me. There was still a little cloud of dirt in the air. There was a hole about 20' x 20' and the back end of my H3 sticking up. I don't know how deep but if I stood in the center I would be underground. I pictured my H3 all messed up, front end kinked and bashed in. From what I could see, it all looked ok besides my H3 standing on its front end. I'm suprised the momentum of that didn't flip me over on my roof. The second thing I thought of was who the hell am I going to call. Would anyone even be able to find me or get to me..
It looked like my H3 was burried up to the doors, sittingon itt's front end, belly burried. If I would of been in front of my H3 when it caved in I would be crushed dead. Maybe that wouldn't of been a bad thing. After about a hour or so of pacing back and forth I climbed back in my H3 to get my cellphone. I decided to start my H3. It turned over just like normal. I held my foot hard on the brake, put it in neu

Wow..Got the whole vision of how you described it..Your Gaurdian Angle was looking out for you that night..Course having a HUMMER to pull itself out of a bad situation, had a lot to do with your safe return, too.
Wow, great story! We should all learn from this experience: Whenever you are parking at night in sandy powdered dirt areas of remote construction sites after a rainstorm, make sure you have a Hummer. Aliens and ghosts may work also.
