I have an '07 Tactical H3 (love it!). It is stick. I want to replace the shifter **** but I can't get it off. Any ideas?

I have the same dilemma, the **** looks ok, but there's much cooler ones out there. My last manual car unscrewed easily, and I feel like I'm about to break this one trying to unscrew it.

 

I have removed my shifter and shortened it by as much as two inches.
The actual **** and most of the shaft is a serious press fit and can not be separated.

First you need to unclip the front (toward engine) part of the leather boot.
Then you need to unclip the rear two plastic clips of the boot and then you can access the allen screw.
This allen screw holds the outer shaft **** and leather boot and **** to the pin from the coming out of the transmission.

Now you may already have accomplished this and found that this shifter assembly is just about impossible to take apart, short of damaging it.

If you do find a way to remove the **** from the outer shaft, please let me know
