It Shakes. It rattles!!
Trying to deal with the infamous heat shield noise/vibration on my 08 H3.
Is there an alternative to having the shield in place and still have the heat protection?
Has anyone used and would recommend using some sort of heat tape/ exhuast wrap?
The holes on my shield for mounting are really sloppy looking and not to mention the studs for the mounting hardware looks awful!
What was the engineer thinking when designing such a shoddy design?

pull the shield and look for cracks in the manifold. I know several people including myself had this issue. There are a couple of people that make headers for the I5, and just have them coated for heat reduction.
Did you search out the solution for the vibration noise caused by the heat shield, if that is what is actually wrong? Takes less time to fix than opening the hood to look at it and complain. Only tools needed..... fingers.
Important, important, most importanly important...Grab it (when cool) and bend it away from where it is touching the manifold near the bottom rear.

The heat shield is not secured very well at the bottom, aparently the hole for the stud to go through has become larger than it is suppose to be. I would like to eliminate as much as I can repeat problems, such as this poorly designed heat shield. Until I can order a replacement header, I'm planning on pulling the heat shield off and repairing it by epoxying a piece of metal to shield to close the whole in some. Hopefully this will allow me to secure the shield to the manifold for a while.
