Ok, I'm just curious....you know (curiousity killed the cat!), but is this the intermediate steering shaft?

I believe that is the upper steering shaft, the lower one is easier seen from below.

 

Whew......I saw the title of the post and thought it was a line from Naked Gun 2-1/2. Like :
