Question Service Stabilitrac in DIC only when below 32*

Stats: 2006 H3 3.5L (84k)

Girlfriends new to her as of 12 days ago.

History: Past 10 days no issues. No DIC active. No MIL.

Research: Have read countless hours across as many forums as possible and much back log of info from Google.

Problem: Started 2 days ago. (Outside temp)(below 32 Deg.)
The Dash began to show the following message....

""""Service Stabiltrac""""

The 4x4 controls will not light and the buttons will not shift the B/W tranfx to either 4HI or4Lo.

She drives to work shuts off the engine, leaves at 12 for lunch and the message is gone. The message will not come back on right away and will wait til the following morning after it has dropped in temps and been left out over night.

Questions:

I've read about the:

TCCM
TCM
Encoder
Control module at 4x4 button position (We cycled the buttons numerous times yesterday and they worked)
Brake light sw
Brake fluid low (I filled it with DOT Syn yesterday)

She just purchased this truck used and of course the coverage is long gone....so it falls to us to repair this. The garage at the dealership is a last resort as to the expense.

Where is the best logical place to begin?

Chris

Thanks all!

I know this has been a catch-all for electrical gremlins, but check your battery cables for corrosion and tightness. The cold weather can bring your battery voltage down and cause problems. The electrical system on the H3's seem to be very sensitive to voltage fluctuations. It is a quick and easy check and a good place to begin.

Yea, I am going to start at the battery and clean, clean, clean Lol! I too am wondering as to it's health and state of tightness.
