Looks like you are all stuck with me now!!!! My brother is the best ever! He came over the house today to drop off a few of my prescriptions that he picked up for me and gave me a big bag with a brandy new laptop and a wireless router! Don't know how good the laptop is but the reciept was for over $2000 so I'm guessin it's a good one. I do't know the tech. specs yet...still reading the damn books but the 17" screen is awesome!! Tell ya how good I am with these new fangled computers....I hooked up the wireless router and laptop at 9 pm...it's now 4:15AM and I JUST got it to finally work...WAHOO...man I suckNow I have to try to get my printer to work wirelessly too.....this could take some time

YAY! Hey I am an old pro at that now LOL - just agonized over itfor 3 days about a month ago and then just did it - EASY! I was even able to return that $90.00 router I was told I needed (did not)- thank GOD I had not opened it yet as I did NOT need it! (I have dsl tho not cable and prolly a little diff set up than you do) GOOD LUCK!

 

Lawwyfe, its true you don't NEED the router, but I would REALLY recommend you reconsider and get one. They are like buying insurance, and offer another layer of protection to protect you against some methods of Internet "nasties". They are usually quite simple to hook up, in most cases you just plug them in, restart all your equipment and away you go. Some setups might be a little harder. If you change your mind and want to get one, get one with wireless as well, even if you dont intend to use wireless as the moment. Many other devices these days are coming with wireless capability. $90 does seem like too much to me. In Canada, you can pick up a decent wireless router for as little as $39.00 ($34 USD), so you should be able to find something down there cheaper as well.

yea my bro is a cool guy, he supports me financially a lot. We have sort of an understanding, he has money but has no idea how to fix or build anything, I am poe but was an auto mechanic and can build/fix anything around the house....I even built houses when I was a teenager So he gives me money when I need it, and I am on call when something breaks at his house.

I know linksys routers were easy to install but this POS was a biatch!!! It's a Netgear wireless router and I was about 5 minutes from throwing it out the window


Can someonein the know please pm me with instructions how I hook up my printer to the wireless network?!?!? Do I just plug it into the ethernet ports on the back f the router? Sorry but the router ame with one setp sheet for internet hookup, it had no manual.

Hun, yes plug it into the back of the router with an ethernet cable...(I think, without seeing it lol)
