Default Scangauge and daystar panel question

I did a search and most posts regarding this are from 2012 and didn’t really address my question.

When installing a gauge along with the daystar panel how do I route the cable? Through the plug hole that the daystar sits into?

Thanks in advance!

That's what I did when I mounted my GPS on my Daystar.

Thanks for the reply. Did you use any sort of fish tape to route the cable? Did you drill at all? I’ve tried a couple times with some medium gauge wire just so I can find the path but when I do so it just seems to dead end in all directions.

I don't remember drilling I think I took the center stack trim plate off, then removed the radio to be able to fish the cable through It was several years ago.

Only had to drill a hole through the Daystar for the Scan Gauge wire. Fished that through the dash plug the Daystar hooks into.

Might be easier if you look up from under the dash. Use a flashlight from the top while you look from underneath. It is not a dead end at all, the wire could go many directions. Once you look at what you are doing it should go quick.

On a scale from 1-10, fishing a wire through there is about a 2.

Thanks guys! I’ll try it again tonight when I get home. Last night I stood a flashlight on the hole, beam facing down, and I saw a small amount of light going through but couldn’t trace it. With a difficulty rating of 2 I have much more confidence and faith that it should work.

I do not remember exactly, it has been years and I suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Sheet), but you can't go straight down. It is either left/right or maybe toward the radio.

Good luck.

Thanks guys! I got it! I had to curve the wire a bit and point it towards the radio and then over to the left of the vents. Easy peasy after that. I used the wire to fish up the scangauge cable and voila! Thanks again!
