New to forum, bought my h3t in 09 new. I have a ticking noise, have been told that it is a lifter noise. Had it at a dealer but they couldn't hear the noise, Has any one can across this issue.

 

I5 or V8?

It could be lifter noise on either motor. V8 lifter or exhaust leak. I5 lifter, exhaust leak, timing chain tensioner.

The engine is the v8. I am quite sure it is lifter noise, was hoping that it is a common issue. Thanks for the welcome.

 

We have owned 5 Alphas (V8) and 2 had the "ticking" lifter upon startup and it goes away once warm, the other 3 did not.

1 did have a similar sound but slightly different and it was the passenger side exhaust gasket between the head and the exhaust manifold.
