It was not "Goof off", It was some bug and tar remover crap. I just called it Goof-off. Sorry about the confusion. I don't think that it clouded it up.I tried it on a small sample piece, and nothing seemed to happen. So I continued.

On a side note I have noticed the little specks of rust on mine on the body and mine is silver. I am starting to rethink this whole Hummer thing. And I am on my second drive shaft, and nobody can tell me why it keeps breaking.

Here are some pictures for you of "rusted plastic"
The entire body is covered with these specs and they really show on the birch white. These are shots of the driver side rear door and fender flare. The picture with the door handle is a metal door and the picture with the black line is the metal door on the left of the black strip and plastic wheel well on the right.
This was immediately after going through a car wash and even wiping it dry with a towel. I drove a lot in the salty michigan roads but I washed it once a week.
The whole thing is going to need to be HEAVILY buffed. I'm due for an oil change and my rear wiper washer died on me so I'll take care of that TSB. I don't know what they are going to do about the chicken pox all over my paint though.

I have the same on the brand new white paint on my H3. Small rusty specs on the paint. I have a friend who does automotive painting, and he says it is caused by small metal particles in the paint, which oxidize in the air, made worse with salt and moisture. He told me to wait until spring, do a good cut polish or clay bar, and then wax over. He says he see it lot's and its not a big deal.

Think it lies under the corrosion warranty issue?

looks like rail dust to me. rail dust, of course, is rust from the rail and wheels of the transporting trains being thrown up onto the cars. most evil is when it is hot little sparks from braking, at that point it is little rusty pits into the paint

Jeremy is right on the money..it ain't really body panel rust from under the paint..it is paint surface contamination,..either like Jeremy said (but hard to believe as the cars are shipped either in covered rail cars or by truck trasport)..But this is crap from external contamination of the road salts ..a goodclay barring will clean that stuff off..

What happens if you don't do anything and leave it like that? Will it spread or get worse to the point of having to repaint? I have never seen this on a car before.

Ghost- have you tried a Mr. Clean magic eraser? That usually can cut through a lot of gunk on all of the parts, I would give it a shot.

havent tried anything yet....its stll reallly salty here. sort of an endless and cold battle to rub it down now. i'm just going to up it to 2 washes a week until it rains and washes away the salt from the roads. then ill get out the big guns and take it to a body shop or detailer.
