Ok, well it's only been one day since I put the new battery in, and only about 7 starts, but it seems to be having an easier time starting. Must be a placebo effect. I still have the issue where the RPMs will be high sometimes. I notice on those times it feels like the truck is weak, and revs much higher than it should for the speeds I'm going.

I'm going to clean the throttle body this weekend. While I have it out, I'll also clean the MAF sensor, and check my air filter. Any additional suggestions of things I can check this weekend?

Thank you,
-qui

Start by installing that thermostat you have sitting there!

If you have NO CODES, no reason to go any further right now, unless you are like me, a preventative maintenance freak, then I can give you a list.

What brand/grade fuel are you using?

87 octane, not entirely sure of the brand. But I've always gone to the same gas station for the ~7 months I've had it.

I may as well rotate the tires since I'm gonna need to take the tire off for the thermostat. So I'll add that to my list...

Preventative maintenance is the best kind of maintenance, so if you have a checklist or something, that would be very helpful and appreciated.

Took the advice on the TB, and installed the thermostat. Thermostat took longer than I would have liked, and I now notice the truck runs ~20 degrees hotter (~195-200 up from 170-180)

Just for fun, I've added before and after pics of the TB. When you look at from the outside, it didn't look all that bad...

However, once I got it off and looked at the inside.....

After cleaning it, maybe it's a placebo effect, but I feel a noticeable change in acceleration at lower speeds. However, sometimes (but only sometimes) it still feels like it just *barely* manages to start.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

Thanks,
-qui

cleaning the throttle body will def effect the way it accelerates and runs.
maybe you have a vacuum leak somewere, that could effect it starting hard also.
But i'm not an expert. just throwing out ideas from personal experiances i've had with my H3.

Another thing I noticed while it was up on the lift. Portions of my exhaust look rusted and almost kind of "burnt". My tailpipe is noticeably black on the tip especially towards the bottom. Additionally, I'm not sure what part it is, and it doesn't seem to have a number below, but the bottom of it has that same burnt black look in a line from front to back.

The part that I'm talking about is the cylinder shaped piece connected to the pipe connected to #2
